Round Two
oil on canvas, 2005
William Hessian: “Self portrait on the left, and a portrait of Matthew Semke, fellow painter on the right. We box each other with our paintings.”

An Orgy of Babies Ink, pastel and tempara on cardstock, 2004 18x12.
WH: “This is part of my very intense (by intense I mean I made a lot of paintings and drawings) independent study with Seho Park. This was a test run using smaller babies and coloring them with pastels. I like some of the baby figures a lot, and some not so much, but this was very fun to make.
I enjoy creating interesting situations for the baby figure to be in, which is why I like this orgy idea, although not an orgy in the sexual sense, just an orgy in the sense of a lot of naked babies in a very close proximity. Babies babies babies.”

Animal Kingdom
Oil on canvas, 2003, about 7 feet by 4 feet.
WH: “It has been shown in a church, but otherwise needs to find another gallery to be shown. am also working on a second animal kingdom on commision."

Crazy Baby
Oil paint on paper, 2003
WH: “This was one of the first babies in a series of babies that spanned from drawing to printmaking and painting. I am really mad that this was the best picture i could get of this. It looks really good and crisp in real life. I enjoy the colors and the interesting pose, but everyone kept asking me what it ment or signified, and well.... i had no good answer. It's just a crazy baby.”
William Hessian studied Studio Arts at Winona State University (South Minnesota), and lives in Minnesota.
